I'm looking to get my '67 painted in the next few weeks and was wondering if anyone had any luck with some paint shops in Central NJ. I'm ready to spend about $3000-3500 and the car is completely stripped of everything that I don't want painted.
Also, if you know of any places to stay away from that would be helpful too...

Thanks.

I'd give you the name of the shop in Linden that did part of my car but with one caveat: while my car was there the brake line broke inside the car and the accelerator cable did as well. Both of them broke near where they were doing repairs to the body. Coincidence? I don't know. The paint work came out nice, and the guy who owns the shop is a nice guy with no pretensions. He does work for the upholstery place next door and occasionally will be painting classic 50's, 40's and 30's cars. If you're still interested I'll give you the name and address.

Yeah, I'll look into it if you can give me some info. I had someone lined up to do the car for me, but he got too busy to take on my car...

Thanks...

btw- if you come to the CJVWS Show please come find me, I'd be interested in talking to you.

I'll post the info tomorrow as I've got it at home. I plan to go to CJVWS unless it rains. How will I recognize you there? Oh, yeah, you'll be driving the beetle :D

Just ask for the club president... someone will point you in the right direction.

lol...

i don't know how well you know some of the VW shops in NJ, but there is one in Manville, NJ - German Auto. The owner is closing shop and has been selling stuff pretty cheap. If you're looking for anything you might want to shoot by his way...

Name of the shop is Hi-Tech Collision Center, 716 East St.George Ave., Linden. (908) 925-4038. The name of the owner is Alberto. He speaks English. You can tell him the guy with the red VW Beetle convertible with the white top last year sent you. If you want to converse more about this you can e-mail me at jgarcia@panynj.gov.

Joe

P.S. When you go, take a peek at the car upholstery and top place next door. They almost always have an antique or classic car they are working on.
