it's OK. Not many people on here know me by name anyway.
I had plenty of frame clearance. I can't give you an exact number, but it was never an issue. That bus only had a straight axle and drop spindles, no narrowed/adjustable beam or any fancy stuff out back. The only real mod is that I had the offset changed on the rear wheels so I could stuff 205/65R15's back there and have 1/2" clearance between the tire and the springplate. I liked the slightly deeper look to the wheels, too.
Looks like that blue Kombi is sitting slightly lower than my Riv. I doubt he has any frame clearance issues either, though. |

EDIT:175/55/15 front w/ dropped spindles on a 2" narrowed beam and 195/60/15 in rear w/ traditional SAK.
Looks like I will need to build a 2" beam for mine since the stance above is exactly what I am looking for.

How much suspension travel do you typically need with a SAK setup? I'm more familiar with lowering options on a Bay and with 3.25" horseshoe plates + one outer notch I only had about 1" between the axles/frame. That was definitely not enough so notching the frame was be the preferred option to allow for good suspension travel. |

Rear frame on a splitty is much different, so no need for frame notching. Not sure what the total suspension travels is, maybe 4-5 inches?
Edit: Here's a pic that may help.

so i got a call today from custom and commercial, they said the center of my stock 14x5 bus wheel was too small to use thier 14x6 hoop. now it'll cost 155 each wheel since he has to actually add a 1 inch thick band of steel to my rims, instead of 85 dollars to just cut out my center and put it in on of thier hoops.
just letting y'all know so you can tell them the size of your center before you send of the rims. |
