| I have a 79 westy that is in desparate need of some paint? on the the pop top. the plastic? if thats what it is made of is oxidized pretty good . I've scrubbed it with every type of cleaner known to man including that oxy stuff and nothing gets it really white. Can it be painted ? How should I prep it/ what paint should I use ? marine boat stuff? help... |

| The pop tops are made of GRP (glass reinforced plastic), so your gonna have to go with a plastic primer, then a top coat. I would get a colour match from the body work (thats if your bus is a two tone). I dont know where you are but over here in England some places recommend the use of an etch primer first to promote adhesion.The modern plastic primers usually do the trick. |

Stock tops should be white. It will keep you cooler too! Anyway, West Coast Marine has all kinds of paint that is used on fiberglass boats that you can even brush/roll on that will dry glossy without any streaks.

| If it's just oxidation, you might want to give TR-3 resin glaze a try. It worked great on my pop-top and on the fiberglass body of my bro's '68 tent trailer. He had about the same luck you've had on the trailer, but after using the TR3 it looked great. |
