How "rare" can they be? There were hundreds of thousands of pairs of early fenders made. |

this clock seems to be exactly the same as this one http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=647856
just a "slight" modification of the dial... maybe a laser printer?
no patina, vivid colours for a 60's clock.. too good to be true :D |

I have three ovals and two Splits. Two 51's, 54,56 and 57 vert.
The original price on the ad was $750. That was too high.
It was changed to $250. $250 is about right. |

Pulled the engine out to remove the cooling ring? No wonder the previous mechanics "went out of business".
And this $22.5k oval is in "Excellent" condition but has dented bumpers, a hit out of whack rear bumper, badly faded paint and a headliner that is coming apart and needing to be replaced.
For the record, the "Excellent" condition is supposed to be:
1 - Excellent - A close to perfect original or a very well restored vehicle. Generally a body-off restoration, but a well done body-on restoration that has been fully detailed may qualify. The vehicle is stunning to look at and any flaws are trivial and not readily apparent. Everything works as new. All equipment is original, NOS, or excellent quality reproductions.

| Not trying to sound stupid fellows, but I have seen this word used alot in various forms (patina). I was looking at the add for the 1957 Beetle priced at 22,500, which is crazy to me, and he states " I have left everything as is due to its history and originality other than adding a lot of period patina accessories." What does this refer to? I think I have also seen it used in reference to the paint on a car body as well. Thanks again. :? |

"Patina" is rust and damage that people won't fix. Kind of like in the s/w industry, where instead of fixing a problem, we call it a 'feature' and charge more for support. |
