How popular is the corvair motor for older Porsches? 356/914? Pros and cons? Vendors/shops who can do the conversion?

Uh...next to none. Why would you? The 356's are bringing big money nowadays with even non-original, but still Porsche motors. The 914 isn't following quite as fast, but an original 914/6 is pretty rare. Save the Corvair conversions for the buggies and kit cars. Besides, the 'Vair motor is getting harder to find replacement parts for anyway.

None, as its a boat anchor..

for non-resto 356's a type4 hipo motor w/upright fan is the hot motor as you can go from 100hp to 200hp with them for a decent price.

914's have always had the 911 six option whichis drop in and install real Porsche parts to hook it up.
