I'm looking for information on towing a 1983 911.
I'm not sure if I want to do this yet, because it might be a bad idea and I just don't know it.
Can a 911 be towed on a tow dolly without damaging the transmission or other damage from towing? |

| I would recommend only flatbed towing. |

| How far are you towing? I cant see why you couldnt use a dolly if you ain't towing cross country. |

Bt, see my ad.
A tow dolly could be used, with a rear dolly also. The suspension travel during tows is a factor with older sports cars {older= 2 yrs old}
You have to make sure that it doesn't bottom out on all of the drive train, esp, god forbid the engine and transmission.
Even towing with a flatbed without blocking the travel of the suspension can do damage, is it worth it? |

I would use a flatbed. I am sure I would scrape my muffler and/or valance on a long trip.
If I only had a few blocks to travel and owned a dolly, I would consider it. If I had to rent the dolly, it would be on a flatbed all the way. |

I'd use a flatbed but I only have a Wrangler Unlimited and a flatbed and the car outweigh the towing capacity.
Maybe I'll just have it shipped. |

How do you use a rear dolly, I've never seen that before. |
