i have a 73 super, havent had the money or time recently to work on it much. whenever i (sometimes accidentally) spin the tires, mainly up hills, it feels like the rear end of the car starts jumping around and shakes everything pretty bad. the rear suspension is up all the way, if i lowered it, would it stop? my last 73 was low in the rear and didnt do this. thanks, and who makes good disc brake conversions for the supers?

For disks, go to Topline Parts at www.toplineparts.com. They're kit may be a little more $ than others, but it's worth it. I have their kit and have never had a problem with it in any way. I have had their kit in both unmodified 4x130 pattern and my current 5x130 setup with pressed-in studs and a drilled and grooved rotor surface, so i talk form experience.

About the shaking, it sounds to me like it's wheel-hop. Buy or make a cheap traction bar and install that. That should cure the problem or at least help a lot.

what exactly is wheel hop, and what does a traction bar do for it?

wheel hop is when your rear end shakes when you spin the tires. If my mind serves me, it's because your frame horns are moving around and that upsets the entire rear end, and that's the shaking you feel. My car used to do that UNTIL I made a traction bar. That is basically an engine support. I made mine out of 1.25" square tubing and some threaded rod so that it made a crude "U". Attatch the rod to a convenient but supportive area and the tubing part helps support the engine from the bottom. This eliminates the shaking.

A better explination is at http://www.lowbugget.com/thebar.html

When I had my 205-60-15's on the car with the traction bar I could spin the tires pretty well for just a 1600 with webers and a header.

Hope this helps you.
