Hi Everyone,

Below is a post from Performance VW Forum. I was having problems that I see one guy here was having an issue with a high idle on his car. I thought I would pass this along for guys that may be new to the VW's and or have purchased a car that may not be running well and someone may have monkeyed with the idle etc. This may not be in all the cases but just food for thought.

Well, I know it may seem like the easy answer but I don't like to mess with things I am not sure about. The reason the car would increase the idle to about 2000 RPM and stay there was the idle adjust screw was way too far out. The previous owners, due to the shape the car was in at the time, made the idle go very high because the car would stall out.

Once I got everything tightened up then I felt maybe I cold adjust the idle screw. I did not want to do that unless I had checked everything else to the T.

I started the car up and then adjusted the screw. No more high idle!

It runs pretty good now. Just a little hesitation from idle if I try to accelerate the pedal fast. I will take it to get a final tune up to adjust timing etc.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice.

Now I can get on to doing other fun stuff to the car.

Regards,

Roger

Very rarely does it turn out to be the simple things. But PO do some crazy things to vehicles.
