...he's always way high. But who knows, maybe someone somewhere is paying those prices....

Right John, there are people who are ready to pay for these lights.

The seller himself has paid close to 1000 USD for used lenses only. 1750 USD for restored lights is charity : )

This single used unit went for 584 USD.

So it's genuine RHD (apparently), but is it really worth $50,000, especially considering that it has so many incorrect parts?

Beat me too it. That car is a piece of shit. I will sell you mine for $15k less.

am i missing something? 26 or just plain 28? what's the catch?

dmp Thu Jul 10, 2008 4:48 am

28 VFIS is not even for a VW and the picture clearly shows a 28 VFIS - the ad should be pulled as the title (26 VFIS) does not match what is being sold.

He updated it.

I have heard those were used on some industrial engines.

i think that everyone that sells parts should be aware that a good description makes a deal easier, as well as the photo tells 1000 words about the item.

I think people do know that.

Maybe it was an accidental typo?
Instead of calling the mob out to delete the ad, etc. I sent a simple email saying "your title says 46 and the picture clearly shows 48" That seemed to do the trick. What it fits, or what it's worth I have no clue about.

My guess is that it was a typo.

Adding to what Mr. Warehouse posted, I have noticed it is very rare for people to actually contact a seller before posting some complaint in the Forums. I often email people to tell them of an error in their ad. Most people are happy to correct it and/or provide further clarification about the part. It is also a good gauge on who you should watch out for in the future if they go crazy on you.

Fair point really - I rarely look at the classifieds that much and was simply responding to a post in the forum, but you're right - a message to the seller would have been more effective.

John, I am 53 and been involved with VW's since the late sixties when I was able to buy a running bug or bus for $200.00 or less so I am always saying "He can't be serious" when I see stuff for sale online & off. But as they say "rarity dictates value". I prefer "A fool and his money are soon departed".

Ragged out split with red velour interior, trashed hood and 40 horse for $15.5k?? And some idiot will probably buy it....

ZwitterND Thu Jul 31, 2008 8:03 pm

No doubt. Someone will probably talk him down to 12 and think he stole it.
