I'm about to embark on the cosmetic part of the resto on my '74. The body has no cancer, but it did spend many years living near the ocean. Therefore, there is some surface rust in between the "fingers" of the hinges (engine lid, trunk, windshield). When prepping for paint, what is the best way to deal with this? They don't appear to be rebuildable, so I'm afraid of disassembling them to clean them up and prime them. OTOH, they also don't appear to be available for purchase in the aftermarket (I checked Thing$hop and GMW).
So what's the best way to deal with this?
I can post pictures if my description isn't clear.

I blasted my door, and decklid hinges in a blast cabinet, then epoxy primed them. I scuffed them before painting. I spot blasted the windshield hinges as needed, epoxy primed and filled some areas before painting....also scuffed those before painting.
You can use a piece of wood, nails and some rubber hose to hold each hinge to make priming and painting easy.
