I recently purchased a 1967 Beetle from a forum member for $1500. He even delivered it to my house!
It is nowhere near stock but it is really a blast to drive! I had never even been inside one until I bought it! It has a newly rebuilt 1600 engine with just under 1k miles, new carb that's perfectly tuned! I need to clean out or get a new manifold because the heater pipe is a little clogged and sometime I get icing but I need to look into that.
It came with 3 boxes of parts including all new seat covers in black, brand new headliner and all seals, new carpet kit, roof rack, new Kumho tires, and a bunch of misc parts. I even went to the junk yeard the other day and found the wolfburg logo for the sterring wheel for a dollar!
99.9 % rust free! only surface rust by the batter tray! I pulled out the whole interior and cleaned it up and painted POR-15 along the whole floor and then covered it with roll on truck bed liner for good measure.
There was one problem. Engine oil light would not turn off.
So before I bought it, I did the squirt test. If it passes that, then there must be an electrical glitch. We pulled the sending unit to verify and it passes and I bought it.
After doing a little more research, pulling the sending unit wire verified that it wasn't even the light that was staying on! Wires are switched!
So I bought a new Bosch solid state voltage regulator for 40 bucks. And it remedied the problem... for a day.
The next day I pulled the generator to take a look and the D- terminal wire on the inside had come undone. My friend took it apart and we soldered in a new wire and fixed it up nice and good with heat shrink and everything. Polarized it and it's been running like a champ ever since!
I need to pull those cheesy white wall inserts though... Those are lame!
I need to over haul the brakes though but for that price it's well worth it!
Here are some pics
I love this beetle! :D |

| bugs must be plentiful where you are - especially 67's - for a car in that condition to go for only $1500 is a bit unbelievable for someone down south - good looking car - you did good |
