View original topic: dasher 1.6 D into my baja?

Ok, I read the post about building an aircooled diesel motor. I have an 81 Dasher with a 1.6 in it, this is the model that is mounted perpendicular to the firewall. I want to put it in my 68 Baja bug. Has anyone ever seen an old bug with a VW diesel? I know that there will be a weight difference, and that the diesel is a taller engine, and longer. Ane one have an idea about the transmission? bolt patterns? Is this possible? (I have friends who weld). Thanks in advance.

It is more than possible it's a good idea, I own a bio-diesel company and i am putting a TDI motor in my 63 baja. KENNEDY ENG makes a addapter plate for 400.00$ 661-272-1147 to bolt it right up good luck.
