| You might mention what those engines are out of. That would help a lot to help you. |

Ill give you guys all one guess as to what my power plant choice would be
.
.
.
.
yep of coarse a screeming rotary :) in my oppion great performance and possibly one of the best sounding engines ever made ( specially under full sting) |

This is me at Willow Springs in the white RX-7... more torque in the bottom of the power band is better for off road. Rotaries don't start making power until 5500 rpm. If you want a screamer baja on the street, good choice. But off road more torque is more drivable (and more desirable). Just my $.02...

yes yes i will agree on the no torque below 5500 rpm but only on the early carby models ( differant port setups ) and specially for 12a twin dizzy models lol no torque what so ever ..... however newer model rotary engines ( depending on port) have alot more low down pull then many ppl may think .. i have a hybid engine running series 5 block ( cos of the port shape and exhaust ports) and a series 4 injection setup and i find offroad it has ooodles of pull ,, second gear in ( in th dirt of corse) it will easily spin the wheels with a bit of accelorator from 1800 rpm . ,, max torque is generated at 4500 rpm and max horsepower is up around the 7500 - 8000 rpm mark . ( drag / road cars are generally setup to be a differant story though )
i have no need for first gear for daily driving with a kombi box as it is just as happy to pull from second from a stand still by just lettign the clutch out with no accelorator as i is from 1st
depending on the way you set it up of corse ,, a fella on rx7club furom has a rotary set up in such a way that it peaks at 5000 rpm and all its torque is very low down . |

rb26dett ftw
if you want tourqe go with a diesel engine. 1.9tdi or go all out and put a twin turbo 6.4L powerstroke engine in there |

I would not like to be the transaxle that has to put that torque to the pavement!
Also with a diesel, the trans would have to have more taller gears to run somewhat efficently or you pull all the gears too fast |
