View original topic: Setting up camber on comboe spindles

I bought a buggy with the front end ripped apart and I am trying to set the camber up properly. Seeing that the spindles are raised Tweeds I can not put many shims on the outside of the bottom link pin because it will not clear the metal section that drops down past the link pin head.
I currently have it set up with 12mm of shims on the inside of the top link pin but it still is not sitting perfectly level but pretty close. How perfectly level does this need to be? I intend on making it street legal eventually.
Before I started the offset between the arms was 8.5mm so the arms should not be bent. I tried using the set up guide from stock but that will not work due to the drop over the link pin head.

If I crank down the nuts on the link pins the suspension seems all tight now.

What am I doing wrong? Help!!!!!! I worked on trying to set this all up until 3:00 am and it is now driving me nuts!!!

you should call steve and ask him
but he builds in the cut into those kingpins
you should measure the difference between your top arm and bottom arm
if they are correct @5-8mmm then you should put 1 may two shims on the outside to just have a place for grease to live at
then one may two on the inside and snug em down

the first thing to check is the arms though
if you can put the king pin up to your arms and everything is flush and square then just a couple shims should doo

called Steve and he thought it sounded like I had the king pin backwards. Called the previous owner and he confirmed he had the same issues when he set it up. Turns out I'm not such a spaz afterall.
