Ok guys I am starting this thread for my 66 Baja project that i have started working on. My goal is to build a class 5 unlimited, long travel bug and be able to race it some day. My dads cousin builds sand rails and owns his own business in Anaheim California called Playtech. But I on the other hand do not have to much off-road experience. I also have a 69 hardtop bug that I have pretty much finished up over the past 3 years. Which is why I am getting my hand dirty with this thing new project. As progress is made i will update info with pictures. Feel free to add suggestions or comments, time to get started.
Bug body was given to me with the pan and several parts for free. Most of the parts are not in the initial picture. Parts like beams, fenders, doors, etc. etc. The only bummer was that it didnt come with a tranny.Another, its a 66 so i will have to convert it to a irs suspension in the rear.
For a few days now i have been taking all the surface rust off with a wire brush and a drill. Same goes for the pan, getting everything cleaned up and ready. Heres a picture of how i picked her up!
