traded my 63 away for a 66 single. got here to late to do anything yesterday. woke up today feeling kind of sick and it was raining but i managed to push it out an get a little clean up done between the rains. here's how it looked when it arrived.......
and after a quick bath to see where we stood............
and after a little scrub on the nose with some CLR(didn't have as good as luck as skim but not bad either) and a nice heavy coat of cleaner wax just to see how it would come out.............

| Its coming out good, it takes some time but you'll find what works best for you as far as scotch brite, 400 grit etc. because some areas take a little more than scotch brite can handle. I found this to be the issue on my roof because it was so rough it was shredding my scotch brite pads so I had to wet sand certain areas. |

yep it's the one dave had for sale. traded him my 63 bug for it. plans are to polish out the og paint as to a dull shine, haha whats a dull shine hahaha, spot in a few places to match where it looks like someone took a grinder to it for no reason. and then sit it on the ground. plans are to have it done by CTS at the latest possibly CYW. i've got most everything here to get it done now. time to do it all is gonna be the biggest challenge.
haven't decided on wheels for sure yet but i've got a set of 195/45/14s mounted on a set of stock fronts so i'll probably run those until i decide.
it also looks as someone drilled the spots for deluxe trim at some time so since it's drilled i may start trying to find a set of trim to go on it. i've always liked singles with deluxe trim even though it's not "correct" in any way hahhaa...ken.... |

thanks man i knew you'd like it. that car has stuck with me like no other. i've had much more desirable cars tons of late 50s-early 60s chevies(most imps) but this car has a feel that none of them did. thats why i kept it for 10 years now. it's been put away in the garage for the last 2. after i get the single on the road i'm going back through it and completely redoing it. that cool HOK cloud blue with white pearl is going away for a nice silver/blue metallic with a little extra flake thrown on top and the roof is gonna stay white base but get a full panel fade job in multiple shades of blue. and the supremes are coming off for a set of Skylark wiresor og Tru Spokes. early lowriders/60s customs have always been my specialty. i miss driving that car but don't miss 9mpg...ken.... |

hahaha yeah i gotta get the buick back runnin so i ain't got push that big bitch no more. if pushing it ain't bad enough trying to steer it without the power steering is worse. the single is no problem. i've had it 2 days and have pushed it in and out of the garage about 6 times already(kept raining on me haha).
and yeah i've got a bunch of shit. and i've sold off a bunch in the last coupla years. thinning down and trying to focus. and the wife doesn't want 12 cars sitting around the new house haha. i currently have 4 cars and she's got 1. last year at this time i had 7. sold the 55 plymouth cut up a coupla bugs and sold another. i may let a buddy take the buick back to va with him and build the motor for it when he's down in july. my goal is to be down to 3 cars by next winter. the buick, the single, and maybe a bug or ghia project for the wife but there has been a 60 comet wagon in the local classified for $1500 for the last coupla weeks hahahahaha. she loves comets so i could probably buy that one and be ok.....ken.... |

i'll have to shoot some pics most i had of it were lost in a computer crash a while back. i haven't driven it in a coupla years. it just sits in the garage. but it's a mild custom 64 wildcat. 401 nailhead with an isky cam. 2in pipes running a pair of cherry bombs and exiting bellflower tips sounds damned good). 64 tbird opera rear seat and 66 tbird buckets. HOK cloud blue(with some pearl tricks) and pearl white. the good astro supreme repops they stopped making 4-5 years ago wrapped in skinny whitewalls. i don't think i'll ever sell this car jsut something about it. though i was tempted when my buddy wanted to trade straight up for his 64 black rivi on tru spokes...ken.... |

did you read the whole post? it was a close trade. i kept the engine from the 63. the singel came with a 4.5" KCW beam, etc,etc,etc.....
don't worry i've been buying and selling vw's way longer than you have. in fact i drug alot of them away from your area years ago. i used to make trips up your way about once a month when i still lived in dothan to pull the gold out that no one around there knew about.
and hell if nothing else it's another one you don't get to part out hjahahhaa...ken.... |
