Hi All
I am planning a rebuild of my 68 bug and am considering wide Porsche alloys for the rear but dont like the look of widened wings. Is it possible to use the shorter early axles on a later gearbox to gain extra clearance??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. It is commonly refered to as the "short axle conversion". A 65 or earlier trans will supply all the parts you need.
There was a guide to doing this in HVW somewhat recently. I'm sure someone here will remember the issue. |
