By the time Im done, I dont want to deal with brakes ever again. When I bought my 72 Super, the brakes were shot. I've replaced the Master Cylinder (which I wish not to do again), all 4 wheel cylinders and a leaking brake hose. I've bleed the brakes enough times (manually) to be a pro(following proper bleeding pattern). But there is still air in the lines and cant seem to build pressure in the brakes. I believe the problem is with lines going to the rear. One thing Im currently checking is leaking where the line forks in the rear for right / left drum. But other than that, do you have any suggestions as to what else it might be or other things to check?

Have you adjusted the brake shoes so they drag very lightly on the drum? Use the "star" adjusters through the access holes in the brake backing plate. And I went through the same crap with the brakes. The summer of '02 was nothing but brake fluid up the kazoo.

If you say you still have a line leaking then that is no doubt the trouble. is it the main metal front to rear line where it connects to the brass "tee" , sometimes that one is bitch to get threaded right and if it is slightly cross threaded it feels like it tightend up but the bubble flare on the line is not fully seated...

I've been having the same problem. Replaced the master cylinder, all the metal lines, all the rubber lines, wheel cylinders, shoes, and drums. I adjusted all around, and so far I have put 64 oz's (2 of those big bottles of fluid from auto zone) of fluid through the system bleeding it and I'm still getting bubbles. The pedal is solid, but only when its about and inch from the floor. Pumping makes it a little better but not much. I've looked everywhere to try to find a leak, nothing. Please help.

I had to resort to a Mity Vac to sucessfully bleed my brakes. And it still took a 64 oz bottle.

I just got done going thru the same thing. I replaced the master cylinder after I was told that was the problem and bled and bled and bled. The pedal was still soft, I eventually took it to a shop where they can use high pressure to bleed the brakes and now they are rock solid. I don't think you can get good rusults just pumping and holding the brake pedal down. Hope this helps.
