After unsuccessful extration and realizing they make a tool to do it now I have a headlight switch and want to put it to the left of my ashtray, but I need to know how to do it. Is there a way to secure the switch into the hole on the dash? Below I added some pictures, the first picture shows where I want to install the switch into the hole cut in the dash. The second picture shows the switch that I pulled from the car, what can I do to bring these two together.

did your switch not have a nut with a collar on it and the two slots to tighten it with a tool (similar to the mounting method of the flasher switch) ? You said it was an "unsucessful" attempt at removing the headlight switch... does that mean you broke it?
I've got my headlight switch in the same location on the dash, and to remove and install the switches I just modified an old pair of needle nose pliars so they fit the little collar nut thing. I couldn't justify paying $$$ for a tool when I could make one.

| Your switch looks like it is ruined. There should be a threaded collar that the hollow nut / trim ring threads into. |
