Brian, Thanks for laugh. 8) We (Sue and I ) had a great time at the 2004 Invasion. This year we'll have a couple of cars there, including the blue Notch.
And yes, she is taller than me. :D

  Hilarious Brian! Bob says you nearly owed him a new keyboard, as he was sipping a root beer at the time, and that photo made it difficult to swallow and bust out laughing at the same time. He had to show it to me as soon as I walked in the door.

Besides the fact that Bob is generally smiling, some sort of wrench or rachet would (most definitely) have to replace that pitchfork!

Thanks for the belly laugh of the day!

i'm glad you understand it wasn't meant to be mean. it has always struck me... partly because my farmer grandparents in PA did a recreation of that photo once and we/you were in PA.

Ron, we're glad to have helped. It's always nice meeting good people, and I personally think the Invasions are the BEST way to do that. 8) Although I never met Russ at an Invasion (we'd been talking on the type3.org list for years), he and his wife Marilyn are the best folks you'll find anywhere. And if Russ needed help on anything, I'd be more than happy to lend it. :D There are others too, that I wouldn't think twice helping either, and you know who you are.

I saw your post a couple of pages ago about maybe meeting up in PA and caravanning to Michigan. Do you have a specific route you like to take? I was thinking if I didn't get in a caravan or if people were interested I would take a more scenic route. I would want to see some trees and curves, but of course, Michigan is still a long way.

What do you think?

Cheers,

Josh

Well, I got Sue's car's paint tuned up for the Invasion. The 17 year old enamel held up well, but there were a couple of rust spots, and some thin spots (from 16 years of compounding) that needed attention. Used some Concept on those, and clear coated the entire car. Might not be a resto, but it looks good. By the way, Sue and I discussed this before doing anything to it. She didn't want a lot of money thrown at it (god bless her), but she wanted it to look good. We spent about 275 on it (needed new clips for the side trim, and a new squirter nozzle due to it loosing an eye, along with the paint and clear), so that kept the cost down, and I did the sanding over a weeks time after work. I know, enough talk, so here's the pics. Enjoy. 8)

I guess I should mention that ALL the cars in these pics should be at the Invasion. :D

wow, that fast just needs some early bumpers to look like one of those new toys.

Well, Bob had a very productive, long weekend, spent playing out in the shop with Clementine. He's been talking about switching her from carbs to F.I. for a couple of years now. Over the years, he's been slowly gathering up the bits and pieces needed to do it.

Over the weekend, he worked on putting it into Clementine. Not as easy as it may sound, first off, he thought he had left all the wiring connectors/ connections in place when he did the original repaint 15 years ago. Uh, nope. He had to resplice all the ends back in place.

Tested a BUNCH of injectors, since he was set up for it. Got 18 good ones out of the 28 he had tested, still had another 8 that he didn't check.

He rebuilt two distributors, to get one to work, and tested 3 of the 5 "brains" he has collected. He replumbed all the fuel lines, and put in a "new" used fuel tank.

It was the igntion stuff that was giving him a pain today, the F.I. stuff was working great.

But, by about dinner time tonight, he had her running.

Still has a little technical glitch going on with the AAR, neither of the two he's tried will close. Says there's no adjustment to them either, so they either work or not... apparently. Still has a card up his sleeve though, he's got a good Type 4 one to try. :D

Appears to run good, but still needs some fine tuning, needs to run the valves and throw the timing light on it. Also needs a thermocouple to fix the exhaust leak between the small heat exchanger and the muffler on the number 2 side.

I know, I know, enough talk, here's a couple of pics of it all hooked up and running, sorry no head on motor shot, we really need to invest in a better digicam!!!

Did I say Clementime's nearly ready for her FIRST Invasion!!! 8) :D

Has there been any talk of a swap meet at the show? I really could use a nice set of late bumpers.

Air_Cooled_Nut Fri May 30, 2008 4:47 pm

Since it's not a car show, uhm, no. Nothing wrong in bringing something if you think it will sell but don't bring a bunch of crap hoping you might sell something. This event (not a show!) is about T3 owners meeting each other, bringing their T3 if they can
