Sweeeeeeettt!!!!

Road trip through the Irish Hills!!!!!

Point of clarification:

Saline is pronounced locally as 'suh LEEN'. Of course, it means salt.

If I can be sure my Square is running reliably, I'll make the trip up from Houston. At least I have plenty of time to work on it!

This will be a 1,282 mile trip in the heat of the summer!

Owning an old vw makes you think- Do we really want to go to a town named after salt? (sorry it's an east coast snow thing  )

Don't worry. By the end of July all the salt from the winter will have been washed away by the tornadic thunderstorms.

Good point John. Looks like we'll be taking at least 2 cars (3 if I can talk a buddy into going, just need a date for him to ask for time off). Still don't know if the 71 Notch will be ready in time (it'll be close), but even if it's in primer (or multi-colors) it might make the trip. 8) Still haven't decided whether to go camping, or reserve a hotel room though.

I'm hoping Keith from albany is going. It's only 609 miles from south jersey but I can hook up with him going through Pennsylvania.
I definetly am going to this one.

If I don't have your engine done by then, you can use one to stock engines sitting on the floor of the shop.

I definetly am going to this one. Keith said he can't go if its the last few days of the month. Hopefully it isn't.

depending on the date...I could make this one! Need to catch up with my T3 friends I made in 2004...

I will probably end up towing something if the family comes with!

vwfye Thu Jun 28, 2007 4:51 pm

yo stonefish... tell keith to get hisself to the event!

jaransonT3 Thu Jun 28, 2007 6:25 pm

Got an e-mail from Keith, he should make it.

OK folks, here it is.....the planned date the 2008 Type 3 Invasion in Saline, MI is....

July 31st - August 3, 2008!!

I still have lots of details to work out and some confirmations of locations and stuff, but I see no reason that weekend won't work.

So mark your calendars and start getting your Type 3s ready for a road trip.

Yeah, definitely long time no see Ron. My dad is going to do the same thing, tow his Square up (he and it were at the 2002 T-3 I) and attend. 8) He'll probably tow it behind his motorhome, and camp for the weekend.

Do you still have that low mileage cream puff 70 Square that my wife, and Mike drove at the 2004 Invasion? In case you're all wondering, Mike drove it on the tour, and my wife drove it back to Ron's home for him. I drove his other car home for him, that ran for the first time in over a year, that got a mini tech session on it at the event (it was towed to the event not running). :o It's a real PIA to bring 3 cars to a car show by yourself, and host the event.
