Does anyone know how many 73/74 Things were imported/sold in the US? :?:

Looks like something in the range of 29,000 were produced for the US market.

From the link bciesq cites, the numbers are as follows, and note additional 181's were manufactured in Puebla which were not descibed as "Things"
1973: 18,729 (incl. 14,197 Things)
1974: 18,844 (incl. 14,733 Things)

There is a big disparity in total production figures of 181's.
Hanno claims 140,768 (worldwide)
Samba claims 90,785 (Germany & Mexico)

I have read somewhere that all 181 bodyparts were made in Germany, a part of it were then shipped to Mexico to be assembled. Maybe those cars were counted twice? One time for the production in Germany, the second time for assembly in Mexico?

That would mean that production figure would be closer to 90.000-100.000
