Is it possible to run an auxiliary oil cooler (with thermostat and fan) with the front skid plate on? Is there any benefit to the plate? Mine is cracked and in needs welding but, if there is no need than I will get rid of it and stick with the one under by the drain plug.
P.S. I have been reading the comment from those that feel stock is the only way to preserve these "Things". After a 10 year restoration on a 60 Porsche, I see both sides and let those do with their cars as they wish. To convert an Outlaw back to a stocker is a waste of money and only increases the value of stockers because it would cost too much to bring them back. Also many buyers like outlaws so their value is high as well. Things were meant for the dirt. Modifying them to work better in the dirt for those who wish to use them there is perfectly fine. For you stocker, think of it as inflation on yours. I wish some one would start a thread on all the Gonzo Modified Things so I can plaidgurise as I build mine.

-What? Front skidplate, like in on the front of the car or the front of the engine? In any case, skidplates and oil coolers shouldn't share the same spaces.

--That said, one of the best places for an oil cooler is near the transaxle, above it to be precise. Nice and out of harms way.
