Is this all about the with panelvan with sales flap? wow
The idea is not to drive with it when selling food, and only when I have permission( Yes, you need that in holland too)

No offense, it's an awesome job you've done there. I just imagine it as a sweet Cheech and Chong bit with kids lining up outside waiting for icecream and getting dropped every time the door goes up.

Maybe I'm a little sick in thinking it's funny to see a little kid, all eager to get a rocket pop, being laid out by the icecream truck driver?

That's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it. I'm the kind of guy that laughs every time a dude gets popped in the nuts on americas funniest home videos too.

Your vehicle will also have to pass a health department inspection and you will have to practically meet the same criteria as for a fixed location.....water, holding tank, proper temperatures on the food, refrigeration, proper sanitation as to utensils/equipment and on and on. Get ready to start filing sales tax returns too. I owned a small hot dog joint not much bigger than a van and they drove me nuts with regulations. I also heard that California no longer allows new locations to steam hot dogs, you have to grill them. Oh yes, the grill and all equipment has to be NSF approved (translation: Expensive), which means restaurant grade. There's a lot more to it than first appears.

If you think you can just pull up anywhere and start selling hot food, SURPRISE! Depending on the city, town or county, you usually have to apply for a location and get it approved and they don't want food vendors in a lot of locations, especially at the beach. If there's a boardwalk with fixed-location food joints, you might last 20 minutes before someone asks what you're doing there and let's see your permit.

Just don't spend money on a rig before you check all of this out. I know of several people that bought expensive food carts that now are lawn ornaments because they didn't bother with the legal details first.

Oh....did I mention that no one is going to give you a permit without proof of insurance.....not only vehicle insurance, but business liability insurance. California most likely has the strictest laws in the world for hot food vendors.

You mean to tell me that all the Mexican ladies with the push cart bacon wrapped hot dog stands surrounding the LA Coliseum aren't legit? ;-)

I can't tell you how many times I've been walking to or from a game and heard a herd of hot dog carts jingling as vendors pushed them at a full sprint while some kind of authority (cops, probably) chased them away.

There's nothing better than one of those bacon wrapped dogs when you're s-faced. Sober, they're not so good.

Ate two of those once. Had to make an appointment with Roto-Rooter to have my arteries reamed out.

ever hear of a solenoid? most shaved doors run them. you can stand outside and pop the button! eureka!.

yeah i know you gotta go back inside but hey. you could check them out through the drivers mirror after youve pulled up.

i think its a great idea. i know a guy gave up his day job 30K plus a yeah and now hes running a mobile coffee empire lol. He bought one of those shitty little thai or italian buses piazza, (its tiny) hes got 8 guys driving for him now.

I can imagine the interests when you pull up in your bay, the wow factor alone will boost your trade.

They were at our Copperstate Classic VW show. Class act and nice work with their promotional effort. They had their big semi but only one shortie was out. They gave out the little cheese samples on toothpics like people do. I tried one, was good, and they said take another one. Said no, it was about lunchtime and I didn't want to spoil my appetite. So went back to the Westy and spread the big fancy lunch out on the table and realized that it included a big block of Tillamook cheese. Was temped to go get the Tillamook folks and invite them back for lunch with all the fixings. I had my kitchen and dining room with me and they didn't.
