I really wanted something older, but this ragtop came along and the sun was shining, so I couldn't resist and bought it. That was in the last week of march.
Since then I put some of my accessories on and I'm starting like like it more every day!
Here's the pictures I bought it from: (I've met the seller once before, so I assumed it was ok)
I immediately threw out the cocomats, the trim rings, the NL sign and the hinge mirror.
It's an original Dutch car, with full history. Sold from Hoogenboom in Rotterdam, that's the place I was born! 8)
Here's the original bill of sale:
and here's the logo that's still on the car:
The '63 now has a pair of ultra-rare early hooded Alberts, these are sooo cool!!
Yesterday I installed a set of popouts:
This is my dash now, with my og EMPI Universal wheel:
and the restored Blaupunkt Frankfurt:
Cool metal rack:
and Swedisch heat defrosters:
In the back my Kamei tray with studs:
I've put a nice og rare Wolfsburg crest up front:
And offcourse a 2inch narrowed beam, which I think is enough on a driver with stock rims:
Next week in SoCal I'll buy a new cover for the ragtop, it's pretty much taped together now. Gonna try to find a nice matching red, if not it will be a grey one again..
This car really only is a nice weather car, when rain is forecast it goes straight into the garage. I'm not gonna do much work on the car, just enjoy the hell out of it!
Don't know if I'm gonna keep it, since I really still want an older one... But on the other hand I want to buy a house next year, so I'd better save my money for that.. We'll see what happens.. Anyway, I'm going out now for a spin with the rag open, think I'm gonna hit the beach! (28degrees Celsius right now! 8) )
Here the '63 together with the '66, which is the beetle it all started with. When my girlfriend and I split up she took the '66 (it was/is hers), but now we just gotten back together so I've got 2 cars to work on now! 8)

| Congrats! Great looking car, I really like that color. Well suited for that vintage. Oooh, a '63 ragtop is very high on my wish list  |

Thanks guys!
A little update:
Finally fitted a new ragtop cover. The old one was too far gone.. So I got myself a little inspired by Darryl's '58, and installed a nice red one:
Out with the old:
And in with the new:

I've recieved some old pictures of '92, when the PPPPO took it to the Dolomites in Italy, they are pretty cool:

All the parts were already there. I just bought a new cover from Lenny at WestCoastClassic in Fullerton.
If all the other parts are still usable, you just need some glue, patience and time..
I sanded and repainted the front and rear metal bows/plates, just for preservation purposes.. 8) |
