I don't have pics on this computer.... but i pulled the motor... Put in the newer gas tank that isn't crushed and has a working sending unit...... and i painted the compartment a little and then freshened some seals on the motor to keep oil in....

wait till you all see my gas-tank.

I have done it many of times.... i just take off the carb all the bolts and the lift up on the shroud and it will tilt out.... works fine for me.

Met up with my best friend that went to woodburn for the meet and drag races. He found me a rally good passenger door for my 65 standard. I need the drivers side not the passenger side  he also picked me up an oe hornbutton clock. Never knew they were made but so cool that he got it and yes I am going to put it on my splitties steering wheel. I wish I could have made it to the meet myself but I had to work.... But I did score...especially the horn button clock. and it works too... :D

Right now, my bus has no rear bumper, but the apron is there. I think I'll try and do it without dropping the engine for now, since last month I pulled it and re-pulled it over and over while grinding the tranny for 12vlt with a big ole wrench on the pulley nut(not recommended) Now all I need to do is save up for a rebuilt alty... :(

I know it's not the weekend, but I thought that I'd share. I'm a little nervous to see what the crosswind will be like on the highway. Guess I'll just keep it slow, like I have a choice...

I installed a sound system in my bus and drove it to OCTO.

Finished installing the alarm pinswitches for all the doors. Finished repairing the flaps I previously cut into the lower B pillars for installation of the retractable 3 point seatbelt reinforcement plates, added seatbelt mounts for the jumpseat, mounted alarm control box and crossovers, drew up plans for subwoofer box, replaced engine lid hinge seal, replaced the seat stand mats, and polished some of the glass pieces for the jalousie windows. Also finally came up with a plan/method for getting the bus way up in the air so I can detail out the undercarriage. Everything took way longer than it should have but I had fun.

This weekend, I'm going to try to fab up some brackets for my single wheel trailer.

VWAdam Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:17 pm

I pulled the brakes off of the Panel. Going to take the drums and get them turned.
I also pulled the engine out with the VW dealer engine jack I got from the same place I bought the panel. Oh my god, it was money very well spent.

That contraption is pretty cool looking. It looks like a go-cart or mini-hovercraft.

That jack is fuggin awesome!

VWAdam Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:27 pm

The dude said he bought it from the local VW dealer when it closed. It is awesome.
It has a platform that engine sits on and it clamps to the bolts on the bottom of the case and the wheel raises/lowers the engine. It will also roll in any direction you want.
I clamped it to the engine, moved it side to side a little and the engine came right out,
Best $150 I've spent in a long time.

I bought and installed solid rocker shafts and swivel feet on the Dormy's current 1835. :?

Left for BlackStar at noon and 10 minutes later the club bus died right on the freeway lanes. Rolled it to the side of the freeway and 2 hours later found out the rotor fried. So we went to JBugs for a replacement dizzy & coil. Upon arriving at JBugs I found this...

:o

Got a replacement clip but it also failed by the time I got to BlackStar. That's why I bought the solid shafts and swivel feet even though I had a set at home! :x

What`s the steering wheel for on that jack? Up and down or side to side? Or none of the above?

The steering wheel moves the engine up and down. Even with an engine on it, you can turn it with two fingers.
The whole thing sits on four wheels that turn like those on the front of a shopping cart. I'll get some more pictures of it once I get that engine off of it.

That engine jack is amazing. You should set up a rental business when you are done.

This weekend I removed my popout windows. For those yet to tackle that task I have the following advice: Take the cleanest looking screw out first, take it to the hardware store and buy the best quality screw driver you can find that fits the slot perfectly and tightly and a new can of PB blaster. Soak each screw in PB blaster, take a hammer and tap your screwdriver into the screw slot from an angle to clear out any gunk/rust. When it's perfectly seated, give it a couple additional firm taps to help free the screw. Then lean firmly on it and slowly turn it. Once it gives, douse it again with PB blaster. You won't get every screw out cleanly, but you will get most of them.

I went to OCTO and bought the remaining S/P panels my bus needed from Clara. Thanks, Clara! Then went to the Classic on Sunday and couldn't find a thing.
