Is it an iPhone 3G? They changed the voltage charging requirements and now they aren't compatible with older iPod/iPhone interfaces. Get a Scosche passPORT charging adapter and you can charge again.

Cool! Thanks for the tip, I figured someone would make something like that sooner or later!

INstalled new kick panels and did not want to cut them for my front speakers. So I decided to mount them under/in the glove box. Worked out pretty good. I also moved my rear speakers under the middle seat.

Then I cut some black board I had and put it in front of the speakers in the glove box to hide them.

I saw this (or maybe another thread some time ago) I have a friend who is just now looking into not "hacking up" his new door panels he just got. His current speakers are in his door panels like many above...

Four years ago I pulled the two 3 inch speakers and replaced with two 6 inchers from another Bus I came across in a junk yard :o

Those happened to last (they were great while they lasted!) until last year '08.

Time to get serious :P

I replaced those with 2 Sony xplod 6*6's in the Kicks

A very nice addition, then I added to the mix with these...
Looks innocent

but it hides 2 Sony xplod 6*9's in a custom built box.

The Box is removeable, so that (If I choose) I can take it completely out and use the seat for storage while camping, etc. While still having the two front speakers functional.

A finishing touch was adding the Vw Bus Door Handle to the top for easy removal, and functionality...as well as for looks and to make it feel at "home" in the Bus.

Only problem I have had is I need a Capacitor. Every time I turn the lights on, the amp goes out.

On mine I have two channels of output, one for the front and the other for the rear. Most important though is the AUX input tied from RCA L/R to a mini-jack plug. So I can plug in the MP3 player or Laptop when camping. My bus has the best sound system of any of my vehicles. Why? because when I am camping I want to have good sound :D

Here is my new audio set-up for now. Basic Kenwood set-up. Saved 75% on the entire deal.

Me having to work upside down in Mylo's dash, while playing bloddy knuckles with Mylo.

Finishing up

I installed this a few years ago. I have the dash and windshield off to fix a rust sill so thought I’d get some photos.

Actually the iPhone is new.

4 channel amp, it’s nice to have everything under the dash and out of the way. It clears the dash vent ducting.

Noise filter and USB for the iPhone

Has anyone done a remote video system? I've found alot of nice head units that play all cd's dvd's etc. for around 200.00. I was thinking about mounting a 15 inch (or larger) lcd from the pop top roof so that it'd be viewable from the lower bed when down, and the upper bed when the top is up. For me, this would be ideal. I don't want a pop out front dvd screen to distract me, or possibly get me pulled over in some states.

If you have remote screen dvd set ups let me see them!

This is on my tin roof conversion

I'm also pushing a theater sound system with 4 6x9, and 2 10" subs and a 1000w amp. Sounds great works great!

My 1974 Riviera has two systems. The cd player in the dash runs through the 2, 1000W amps and runs off the regular battery. It has a couple of subs and 6x9's under the rear seat and a couple of 4"'s in the doors. The other system is mounted on the ceiling and runs off the auxiliary battery. It has a cd receiver, dvd player, 2 drop down monitors and a couple 6x9's.

does anyone have any experience with this

seems like a great idea to me, but i havent seen one in the flesh so dont know about the quality

Looks cool, but controlling your ipod on your stereo is always a bit fiddly, especially because you can't just hold the thing in your hand.

When you get a new head unit just make sure you can control your ipod through usb without using the HU. I've got a pioneer DEH 5100 UB which can switch between radio or ipod control. I love that thing, very easy to use, also with memory sticks. It opens up 8Gb memory sticks in seconds while some radios take minutes and it resumes playback wherever it left of independent of how many devices you used in the meanwhile.

Wish they could make one with a stock-looking faceplate.
