Here are a couple of pics of my setup that I was able to find. If I find the rest of them I'll post them again as well.
Speakers inside.
Closer photo of the speakers on the inside. The tracks were made using the same material. I covered the track attached to the speaker with felt to stop rattling around. There is also one on the back of the speaker that points down so that the speakers can be mounted in the rain gutter on the outside of the bus.

meinvw wrote: Heres my little set-up. 4 6.5" kickers, 2 in panel below rear seat, 2 in the kick panels. And kudos again to the infinity bass link. About the best bang for the buck I have found. Did not think it had the room under the seat, but that was mentioned here so might take a look into that.
Put the head unit under dash, left the 8track in place. Still works! Its on a seperate speaker but just bought a converter to turn the out put into RCA and hook it up to the sub as well. Cup holder on the ashtray acts as a craddle for the ipod!
Lastly a CB, to hear the truckers laugh when I pass them going up the mountain! Well down maybe......
Hey! That's how I was considering mounting my Deck (Under the dash). Have you got any closer pics of the way you've got it setup?
Thanks, |

Here's where we're at so far. Left speaker will be going in this weekend:
My son (kid on the passenger seat) said to tell the world that he can plug his iPod to a cable that comes out in the glovebox. Thankfully, he's got good musical taste. |

I use an aux for my stereo because quite often you want to listen to tunes while you're out camping. With an aux you never have to worry about killing the car battery....bus I mean. ;) |

Do you have it wired into the alt/gen somehow or do you just recharge as needed? |

Let me see if I can remember this correctly. Alternator to engine battery to an isolator and then to the aux battery. From the aux I run a connection to a small fuse panel under the seat. As I need juice I add more fuses and hook up the equipment. I don't have any photos though, the bus is apart right now. I"m also not a electrician so others might have better setups. It works well for me though. If you need juice for another appliance then just hook it up to the panel and throw in a fuse. |

hey wanderglobe how did those boxes end up working out, ive always wanted to fit some subs right there but i couldn't figure an easy way to seal a box tightly around the back
Im so glad I found this topic, i couldnt wait to show you guys this trick install i just finished. they are JL 6" seperates running off deck power and they sound awesome! as soon as i clear out my back seat ill post a shot of the custom 6x9 panel i made for the rears
the tweeters are small enough so fresh air still comes out freely and they still swivel! ill take pics of the mounting if anyone is interested |

Here are a few pics of my setup. In the front I mounted the speakers to a pair black ABS plastic kick panels. In the back I mounted the speakers through the bottom of the overhead compartment. Not in the pics I have self powered bass tube under the rear bench and a 12 disc mp3 CD changer mounted inside the sink cabinet. I also put a switch in the glove box to change power sources between the Bus battery and a deep cycle RV battery under the rear seat. I left the memory power for the radio always on the bus battery so you never lose presets when switching between batteries.

My bus already had the equipment installed when I bought it. It sounded horrible though and was built to look good rather then work good.
I ripped it all out this summer and rebuilt the sub box, removed the coax Kicker door speakers and found that they were separates installed as coax's so I installed them as separates. I also installed some ventilation fans in the box that contains the amps. I then spent an afternoon playing with cross over settings and it absolutely rocks the bus now.
So there are two 12's installed in a sealed box under the z-bed.
There are two amps installed inside of that seat. The front of it has a plexiglass panel as well. They are rated at 1000 watts each.
Here you can see the mid bass nd the tweeters are mounted up on the dash.
The head unit is a Pioneer and it is installed in the regular place. The DVD player is installed in the glove box.

I don't have a pic of it Shawn and it's put away till the snow is gone. It is basically a pretty ole skool DVD. These days you just buy a head unit with DVD and call it even.
The flat screen was designed to flip down from the ceiling but is mounted on/into a mdf frame covered in black vinyl and that mdf frame is hinged to allow it to swing out so it can be seen while standing outside of the bus.
The bus used to be a promo vehicle for trade d car shows and was built to be looked at more then actually used. For example I bought it with the roof already chopped but I have used 5 rolls of welding wire on it so far. |
