| No, that hose on the intake most likely went to the power brake booster on the firewall.just cap it.The tube that is on the cat is for a air injection system. They are used to get the cat to opperating temp faster. You wont need that. |

So then, other than the 02 sensor working properly what else do I require? What is this closed loop that you are refering to, or is that just the electrical aspect of how the emmisions system operates?
Is there an easy way to check if the 02 sensor is operating properly? I checked today and a new 02 sensor is only $55.00. |

| When a fuel injected engine is cold it will run in Open loop.Basically that means that the fuel enrichment is decided by set parameters of the other sensors,ECT(engine coolant temp)RPM and Map,when the engine is warm and at cruise it will rely primarily on the O2 for maximum fuel performance and economy. The best way to check if it is in closed loop is to check the scan tool data or to hook a digital osciliscope to the signal lead from the O2 sensor and look at the pattern. |

Baja5 has given a lot of good information and educated most of us. Thank you Baja5.
riNR, there is a contributor on www.azbaja.com that specializes in 2.3 fords, especially turbo's. You can log on there and PM him, his user name is madman74. He is very knowledgable and nice also. |

| I came home today after making an appointment to get the emmisions test done. I warmed up the car and brought it over to the shop that does the testing. When I got there they let me sit around for 40 minutes while they chatted with their buddies about nothing right in front of me. Then the guy finally takes a look at the car. The first thing he tells me is that the super trap won't allow him to get his sniffer in the tailpipe. I tell him that two bolts is all it takes to take out the baffle. He says, "forget it" and "ain't paid to do that $$it" I'm like, " lend me an allen key and I'll do it" Dude didn't even want to do that! So "bite me!" Jumped in the car and drove into the sunset. NEXT! |

So I finally got plate for this my buggy today!!!!! Yippee!!!
Changed out the 02 sensor and the thing ran differently instantly. No more plumes of smoke when give it gas, and it doesn't reek up my garage with gassy exhaust smell either. The air/ fuel ratio gauge went from showing it was running lean to showing it is running rich now. |

| riNR, I saw you're selling the rail. Hey, you just got it legal, time to hit all those places you didn't want to tow it to. Going to do another or are you switching toys? |

so I've been eyeing up a local land development site they've been scraping away at and today I went for it after dropping my daughter off at work. Little did I realize that the earth was soaking wet clayish type of mid. Well once I got down the hill there was no turning back and it was full speed ahead or get stuck. I had to run about 4 football field width on a slight incline to finally reach higher dryer ground. All the while crapping my pants about being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Once I got to the other side I thought for sure I'd be able to get out another way but to no avail I had to come out the exact same way. I aired down the tires and took a good run at it and made it back out. It took 2 hrs to spray the car down and that was with my sons help. The back seat had so much mud in it that I had to scoop it into a pale. Hey, it put a smile on my face, so I guess it was worth it.

The cleaning is the PITA isn't it. It's all worth it if the "grin factor" is there.
Well looks like I broke something in the rear suspension on the rail, I was out yesterday hitting it pretty hard and came up on a washout that was fairly deep cutting across the trail. It's been raining some lately here and that can really chew up the trails with washouts etc... When the back hit it I heard a distinctive "snap" and the RH rear suspension completly collapsed (and didn't extend back out) Luckily that was all that happened so I was able to idle home (8 miles) under its own power. Haven't tore it down yet but I ether snapped the torsion bar or tore out the splines in the torsion housing.."ouch" I had just reindexed the rear torsions earlier in the day and the suspension was working pretty well, figures...
I'm thinking worst case, I'll have to switch to coilovers on the back if the splines are gone. If it's a snapped torsion bar I'm going to switch to longer bars (currently running short torsions) and use some good sway-away torsions (I cut corners and installed 27mm latest rage bars). |

I managed to break one of the front arms goofing around in some dinky trails close to home. Luckily I was able to drive it home like this. Looked like it had a crack in it for a while because welding job on it was horrible.
I made up a jig and welded it all back together and welded a fish plate over top of the weld. I put it back on the car and seems good to go. I just came back from giving it a night time butt woopin'.

Took the rail out today in hopes of getting one more rip out before the season was over. I live just on the north shore of Lake Ontario and due to the warming effect of the lake there is no snow at my house. Much to my suprise there was much more snow north of my house where the trails are. I managed to get it stuck in the snow. The main road in was all hard packed snow. The rail was pretty useless in the snow.
I figure I'll probably keep the car for a bit since all I seem to get are idiotic offers that are way low or retarded trade offers. I'm hoping to slide the tranny back a couple inches to help get rid of the CV clicking with my 4 X 5 arms. Should be fun stretching everything out and cutting out the stock frame horns.
My son took some pictures:

| Looks like I'm at a stand still for a bit. I broke my hip on January 16 skiing and ended up getting a total hip replacement which will make it impossible to do anything for 2 1/2 - 3 months. I thank God for free health care at times like this. I would be selling off lots of goodies or taking a second mortagage for the cost of my hip if not. Full week in the hospital, including drugs up the ying yang, major surgery, free in home physio therapy. Only thing I paid for was some mobilty aids ( most free from a friend ) and $115.00 for blood thinners. I love the USA but this is a huge perk with basically very little fundamental differences between both countries. |

How much do you pay in %wise in income taxes etc to cover free health care?
BTW, OUCH, glad you are already back. My mother had a hip replacement and was out for awhile. |

| Income tax wise....I once read a study that made a side by side comparison. They factored in medicare, etc, etc. I was suprised to find that there was relatively little difference. I, in general, pay approx. in the 30- 35% range being self employed (I do pretty good, not great, but prettty good, but four kids, mortgage... eat that up quick). What I like about Canada is that there is not this huge split in classes (income-wise). There seems to be seems to be a homogeneous standard of living throughout the country with plenty of wealthy, and a huge middle class and relatively small amount of poverty or working poor. Some cities seem to slowly be finding their way to a splt class ( Vancouver, BC....which I looked at moving to at one point), and the political powers seem to always want to screw with Health Care and turn it into a two teer system riddled with user fees but Canadians are pretty staunch on the whole health care thingy. Watch the Michael Moore film that address this issue it is interested even if you can't stand the guy. |
