Busy weekend:
I put up some cabinets in the garage to keep everything organized. I also relocated my mass air sensor and air filter out of harms way......did some plumbing in the process. I also changed the engine mount on driver side. I just have to finish buttoning it all up and painting it all. This engine is so shoe horned in the cage that it starting to look like some Jap car. I may still use a cannister style filter housing from and GMC Savanna van and duct it up to my roof rack to create a ram air effect:

Before everything was hanging out behind the wheels and the engine mounts was 4 inches away from the engine and relying on the bolt's strenght to hold up the weight which was not working.

Latest improvements:
Painted out items involved with relocation of mass air sensor and air filter:

Added a movable winch:
front plate mounting platform:

Installed on platform: ( remove pins to relocate to rear )

Rear receiver installed for winch mounting:

Hood installs nice and tight to protect unit:

Plugs into battery connection and then has controller in between and all rolls up into convenient bag:

Installed cross bracing on front section:
It is removable to service the gas tank, etc.
Side ladder rails were flexing a lot and causing issues the shock towers flexing down into top tube bracing:
Also mount steering shaft support:

Without brace installed:

With brace installed: ( front hoop supports front edge of hood )

Mounting points: ( this took forever to figure out ( for me that is ))

Took it for a spin and noticably stiffer , and better steering response with this improvment.

Next tasks:
Mount fire extinguisher
Mount high lift jack
Install jerry can support in tree bars
Install cup holders for coffeee / water bottles

Oh ya, and go beat her up a bit now. I'm a little tired of working on it and need a break from it.

Took the buggy out for the maiden trail vouyage for 2010. Cops were up in the sand pit warning people to get out so it was a ghost town when I got there except for a couple of stragglers. I ended up screwing up on a looped top hill and hanging up my front tire on a tree. The back tire was off the ground and the only thing holding it from rolling was my tire hung up on the tree. Some guys rolled up in a Canadian military jeep, some jeeps, an H3 and a unimog. They winched me back up the hill off a tree and then let me down slowly. Great guys! Sure enough cops show up to give us our daily warning so we ride on the main trail where we are allowed to ride. I rode with them for a long ways. Lots of mud! I got a laugh when I made it through a muddy stretch and the H3 got stuck. The Unimog was a beast! One of the guys in the 4 X 4 had a chub for a ride in the rail after he saw what it capable of, and I think he may have shart his pants after the ride I gave him. What a great day...super warm....great bunch of guys to trail with. Hopefully they'll email me some pictures to share.

I finally put a pivot bolt stop in place, but only after I lost one. Luckily I didn't get stranded or screw anything up.

Very nicely done buggy! Now I see why you want me to throw mud on my "shiny"rail! :D Those rear coilovers with remotes you have are sweet! Color me jealous!!

Nice to see you made room for the kids when you were modifying it. It's EXACTLY why I built a 4 seat rail, instead of a 2 seater. Fun for the WHOLE family!!

nice and dirty after Canada day celebration at my friend house. He had 5 ATVs there and my buggy. I took his wife and friends out and covered them in mud. I laughed so hard I was crying. I wish I had a picture of them.

I took the family to Silver Lake, MI for some fun. We had a great time. I even got some windsurfing in too. What a blast sailing right up to the dunes and jibing right in front of the shoreline filled with people. Tried a couple backloops off the steep swells but not enough height to rotate all the way.

My 3 yr. old took his first ride but it was cut short as he was scared.
I managed to get stuck twice, once on the ridge of test hill.

It was smoking hot. T-stat in car said 40 Celcius.

I will have to upload my gopro video later. I was running the woops at the exit section of the dunes at 89 km hr or 55 mph.

The paddle tires worked great.

Great pics man!! :D We're headed up there tomorrow for the weekend. Probably gonna be a mad house since it's Labor Day weekend, but oh well. A packed day runnin' the dunes is better than any day at work!

Glad you had fun up there riNR!! Remember to stay on the gas during your next attempt at backloops....that should bring it all the way around!! :D

I have more pictures there. If you look through there are some images I captured off of my gopro camera that show a sailor point of view of mid way through a back loop. I took the shots while out in Oregon this summer.

those hills were bad wednesday and friday they got real bad at 5pm people were getting stuck left and right on test. I cant wait to make mods to my car and head out next year lol and I see you were by blewbyu buggy that thing looks sick.

We stay at Silver Lake R/C. We've been staying been there for the last 6 years, and Don and Sarah (the owners), are wonderful people that continue to improve that campground all the time. They take a lot of pride in their campground, and it shows.

I am a little bummed about the weather, but I'm hoping we get lucky for at least one day of good riding. We'll see how it goes!

Been going to some new trails close to home that have a really nice mix of hills, hard pack, loose washes, forest trails, some muddy runs etc. Great trails, great crowd there too.
