If you are looking for reliability, do not trade to a 1914...they do not come close to lasting as long. You can get just as much power out of a properly built 1776, or go for a stroker such as a 2007, 2110.

A 1776 that is built right could run 100 horse or a little more. I just built a 1776 that I have not run yet. It has alot of good parts like c/w crank 120 cam new cb 044 heads. c/m p/r's universal case. everything balaced solid shafts with swivel feet. and all new alt. fuel pump. 009. weber 40 idf. and so on it cost me around 1500.00 I am now building a 2110 that will be my primary motor. it is going to cost double for the 2110. I am looking to get 160 horse out of the 2110. You might be better to sell your motor and buy or build the one you want.

How much Hp can you afford? I've got a 2.6 T4 with ida's that has the best parts money can buy. Was built for road racing but would be fun on the street.
