I am not a fan of kits, but I've heard that the Scat kit is OK, as long as you upgrade to a forged crank.
If I were buying a kit, I'd prolly go w/ Berg, if I could afford it. Lack of funds has me putting mine together, bit by bit. May be more expensive in the long run, but I'll have no question about quality of parts. |

| If this is 4 a bus, I would recommend that you consider a type 4 motor, (porche 914) much better for a bus, with about 100 hp stock, and lots of torque to push the bus around. they can easily be pumped for more HP, and still last 200,000 miles like a normal car. Check out http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/ and http://shoptalkforums.com then type 4um. it is much more reliable than type 1, and is pretty easy to swap, I am saving junkyard parts and should be able to get it all finished for less than $500 complete, carbs and everything. |

| For a bus stick with the upright and build a bulletproof 1776cc or 1679cc. Wait you already did...... |

hey, check out aircooled.net , the scat kits are good if you want a kit. How much power do you want, what kind of budget are you talking about (including Eng & Trans) and is this for drag racing, Daily driving, or a weekend type car
congrats on the oil leak. It's all downhill from there |

| i was gonna buy the 2276 kit from airccoled.net but it cost $1100. i went down to scat and got the same kit for $897, thats with tax. 82mm forged 4340 crank, h-beam rods, c-45 cam, all german bearings/gaskets. forged 94mm piston/cylinders and spacers. shadek 26mm oil pump, lube-a-lobe lifters. left out a couple things, cant remember right now. now, i got the hbeams and lifters because they didnt have the i beams and normal lifters in stock when i went, so he gave me a deal. but i think ive seen the kit for about 910 without tax with the h beams, ect... o yea, airccoled.net dont come with the h-beams either, but the ibeams should be just as good to run |
