when wiring an aftermarket tach, black= ground, red= 12+ white= illiuminator/ dimmer. Green= points side... is that the wire going in to the middle of the distributor cap, or a different one? thanks for the help, Dan

The green wire should go to the points side of the coil. Just follow the wire that leads from the condensor on your distributor up to the coil and connect to the same post.

Green wire- Negative terminal (-) side of the coil. Not the positive terminal (+) side that has a constant 12vdc when the ignition is turned on for the electric choke, fuel shut-off, backup lights, etc. The Negative side is for distributor only and is the conductor that terminates at the distributor to the Negative terminal on the coil unless a tach is used. Which is what you are installing. So just connect the green wire to the Negative (-) terminal on the coil. That simple. If you istall an electronic ignition. Their is a red and black conductor. The red is constantly hot (+) and the black is for the negative (-) side.
Good Luck
Rick
