what in the world is this??
http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/66053.jpg
is this a different type of exhaust.. or just the tips??? i should have gotten these instead of my dual quiet packs/stinger.. i still ahve the old exhaust if they are tips.. but i havent seen them anywhere.. just others that don;t look as cool..
and btw, i have a full extractor system on a 1600 with dual carbs.. is it really worth it? i dont really need heat durring the summer, but i am wondering if it makes any sence to have them durring the winter.. though i am managing arround 35 mpg with the dual carbs and exhaust over the 20 i was getting with the single carb and stock exhaust.. performance is iffy.. i have more power at higher rpms, but next to none at lower.. and i dont really do much freeway driving.. |

It's a fairly cheap exhaust, yours will run lower temps and probably get better mileage and HP. Also, yours is probably quieter. JC Whitney as well as many others (check the mags) sell these for under $100.
What dual carbs do you have? You should have plenty of power for a 1600. One of my bugs is running a 1600DP with dual Kadrons and a Kadron glasspack exhaust and I can get quite a bit of wheel hop in first and still bark the tires in 2nd. Of course, I only get about 28 MPG, but then again, I seldom go slower than 80 on the highway. |

| dual weber 34 ict's.. big enough for my little 1600 dp.. not too much, not too little.. and the muffler doesnt mount right, it will start wacking the bottom of the car when the rpms get low.. like starting off.. the mounts are a joke, cause there is no where to mount them(dual quiet packs).. |

| Next time you take the motor out, put in some new harder urethane mounts, that will hold the motor better and take some vibration out. |
