I have a 57 and I cant seem to find out how to start the car,
It hasnt been stated scince 88 I haave washed out the tank ad fuel lines
I also replace the resooir switch. The car turns over and every once in a while itwil tr and start butt wont go.there is also a little wie smoke that comes out once an a while any help would be apprhiative

You could try and "prime?" the carb. Put a little gas down there to get it going. How are the Spark plugs? Wires? Points?

I have tried primng the carb no go
the points, pluggs and wires are good
any other ideas?

When you say "Good" do you mean, 1988 good? Cause that's pretty old. Check your points man, that's key! Also make sure you timing is on, and your carb, well, make sure you've gone ALL the way through it, and Double check that Accelerator pump, and make sure the choke is not on. Also, i'm guessing you've changed the oil? Cause that sounds like some old oil...Just double checking you ;) Anyways! An oval, man sounds like fun! Good luck!

make sure you have spark how is the compression after that long the valves are stuck open if you dumped fuel in the carb it is almost has to be spark or no or low compression how about the coil?

well i got the car started
I got a fuel pmp rebuild kit and that did the trick
thank fo the help
