I just spent 600 bucks to have these manifolds fit to my car and have it tuned etc.. I was rushed because I was moving.
Its a 1915 8:1 cr, eagle 110, 69mm counterweighted crank, 042 heads with webber 44's. 009 dizzy and stock coil, header with J-tubes and a single quiet pack
The car ran like shiat and now its fine..
There is a poping in the exhaust at a certian RPM I say 2,000 or 2500 in all gears. It breaks up accelerating and then pops when deccelerating. Its not real loud but I am wondering if its timing and or a leak.
How can one tell? I just had the points and all the valves adjusted along with 4 hours on cleaning and tuning the car.
Does anyone have tips to finding a leak? I also sealed up the J-tubes with some high temp sealant too. |

It's the timing...Oh, stick your foot over the exhuast, and if you can still hear, pretty well, you gotta leak. Good luck!

| what size jets are in the webers? is it popping thru the exhaust or the carbs? the way you describe it it sounds like its popping thru exhaust, but i wasnt sure. it could be a valve hanging up, or not sealing. it actually sounds carb related to me. are you sure there is no vacuum leaks? make sure you double check this...pull air cleaners off, and choke the carb, if it keeps running with a minor change you have a leak, if it starts stumbling badly, no leak. check each carb individually. hope this will help. |

The Jets are ah 175,135 and I am not sure of the idle.
I was told to get 200,155, and I think 55 idle.
I found a leak at the tip of the header where it meets up with the exhaust.
Its a lil better It might be running lean for my engine so I know I need new jets but I still think a leak in the exhaust is causing my pops or weird noises.
Any other ideas? |

| I got the same problem installing my 40's the other day. I checked for leaks, new points, wires, timing etc, but still pops and runs like shiat at 2-2500 rmps (that mid cruising point). The carbs are on a 1600 w/ a small cam. I'm going to try re-jetting it this week to see if that helps. Any ideas for maj1 and I??? |

Nevermind, I think I found my answer.
I looked through the archives and found this link:
