Update 8) Yes we are back in school and cranking on the Ghia. Thirtyfive students! Lots of welding and grinding on the body still. Day by day it gets closer to the application of body filler, primer, and paint.
The chassis is ready for the body.
I will update the site(s) soon. My internet at home is down and the school filters will not let me upload pics. Plus who has time   Busy working on VW's at school and home. :D
Thanks for your interest and help.

Jon Bol from Chirco came to school on his day off. He and 5 kids worked all day on the motor. It's real close to being done. Thanks John!
Students are still finishing the metalwork. Maybe we can start slinging the mud next week. Looking for a Pro to do the final spray in a booth.
Thanks for your support! 8)

I just watched the video. I Think it is great that your school is restoring these old cars. I too 20 years ago restored my 76 Bug in automotve class. I had several people help me. I have many fond memories plus the experience has helped me enjoy other cars. I have a red black top 64 ghia. I would like to see the finish product.
Thanks

Staying with the stock Ghia body all the way around. :)
The online "Design a Ghia" program is very cool. but does have that "bug" look to it's headlights. |

New pic at the top. Splitting the body and pan this week. DHP ben has offered up his junk '73 Ghia for the front inner wheelwell panels, right rear 1/4 panel/outer wheel well and anything else we can use. :D
Stay tunned for more later. |

Updated 12/31 :D
DHP Ben gave up his Ghia roadster body for the AC3 cause, and The Brotherhood's Chris, Jacob and Nicole helped pull/cut an early steering column, engine surround sheetmetal, rear seat, and hood latch, to add to the car. :D
Thanks! |

Can you photo document the process of putting on the door rubbers?
I will be doing this my self and any additional tips/techniques would be
great. |

I love it. I lived in Tucson for 4 years, then returned for another three. This last time I brought this Ghia with me. I spent many dollars at Chirco and BAP.
I second the movement to document the rubber seals. My car came with all new seals, but no labels. I had to figure out where they went. I still have those seals that are made of foam and sitting top and center in your photo. I don't know where they go. The front of the doors maybe? |

We are still thrashing on the body work this week Frankie so it will be at least two or three weeks yet for the paint - then we can get going on the body rubber.
Mike, from House of Ghia, is going to coach us through the process. :D
How did you end up in VA? |

I'm an east coaster originally, I grew up here. My family is all out here. My Gramps is the mayor of this beautiful little town.
I love Tucson, I went to high school there and always liked it, so I keep going back. It confused most of the locals.
Since I got my car back east It's getting wet a lot more often. I'm noticing little leaks I've never seen before, like in the crack in my windshield seal. I hope my car doesn't hate me for bringing it here. The locals here love it and I've gotten quite a few offers. Old cars are definitely rare to see in the road here compared to Tucson.
I'll be anxious to see how your project car turns out. |
