hey i just bought some baby dual webbers from isp and was wondering how hard they are to put in correctly. i currentally have a pergressive. is it also hard to tune the bugger

well, The linkage sucks, be real careful with the little screws and stuff, I broke a bunch on installation. They were a bitch to sync, and I had to rejet them for a 1600, but once I got them tuned, they held up real well. There was a story on the T3 ict weber install in hot vw's or trends back in the day, It was wrong though, I remember doing it that way, and I never got full throttle. Theres a trick to getting the arm connected to the throttle cable lined up right, you will see once you dive into it. if you make sure to get the linkage right, it makes tuning much easier. Trial and error is really the only way to get everything correct, stuff the intakes with rags when you can to not drop anything down, good luck

Dual carbs are harder to sync since you have to 2 idle circuits and linkage to tune, along with air screws on each carb. They can be hard to sync if you never have done it before.

ok i got them in but its scarying me that i have extra parts. i havent hooked up the fuel lines yet, but the kit came with a skinny hose and a fuel line hose. there is a nipple comming out of each carb and i'm guessing thats what the skinny hose connects to, but does it just go from one carb to the other or does it have to connect to sonething else? also there is a part that is about an inch long and skinny on one end and fatter on the other. it looks kinda like the linkage that you screw the throtal cable to but there's alread one of those. kinda looks like this ----[[[o]]] the o has a little allen wrence screw in it. the directions suck. help

THe fuel lines are connected together, running from both carbs to a "T" fitting in the middle of your motor. The fuel line from the fuel pump will go to the middle of the T fitting. THe last piece you are trying to describe is probable the throttle cable shortener. which will help shorten up the cable to get it tight. My cable was too long and I had to use one of these.

what's the skinny tube for, i got the fuel line part. i think it goes from one carb to the other

I think you are refering to the thing I broke. If it is, it is an exteder for the linkage, near the throttle shaft. well, I think directly to the throttle shaft, and the linkage then bolts to that cylinder piece. sorry dude, it's been a couple years since I sold my 65 square that had them so it's hard to remember. Have you asked on the list at vwtype3.org ? they are kinda purist how about shoptalkforums.com they have a slow but good type 3 forum

yes, it is a balance tube, all single throat carbs have them. It should be pretty large though

a22flipp@aol.com Mon Jul 21, 2003 1:55 pm

this could be a joke, but here goes, its a long tube but skinny, there is a brass tubes sticking out of the carb one i assume is for the fuel and one i have no clue on, and am guessing its for the skinny tube, its about as wide as a straw.

ok, the fuel brass on the carb should have a buldge at the tip. I thought the balance tube hooked up to the intake manifolds, but I could be wrong. A small brass tube I would think is for vacume?

a22flipp@aol.com Mon Jul 21, 2003 4:55 pm

so the skinny hose hooks to the vacume tube?

ok i got a sync meter, it is split into two rows of #s, should both sides match up when i'm reading the thing, and then go to the other carb. also what is a good # to be at so i know when i'm done
