The guy I bought this from only had the car for a couple of months, do any of you know it? Any history you might have would be great.
Thanks.

I bought it in San Jose. I'm pretty sure it was a South Bay car prior to the guy I got it from. |

Nah, in high school I had a 280z, two of my buddies had Bugs and another had an MGB.....we used to ditch school, meet up on Santa Cruz Ave. in Los Gatos and race over the hill to either Capitola or the boardwalk have lunch and race back.
Another spot was heading up to Uvas from Bailey Road (when we didn't have enough time for the full run).
I can't believe that was 22 years ago. |

Bailey Rd out in old Almaden? Oh, that's good times right there....
Sorry no one's been able to get info on that bug. I know of four that look very similar to that here in San Jose. ACVWs are still hella popular around here... |

Yep, the long straight stretch of Bailey (by the old IBM) was the drag strip for the muscle car guys. The Bugs/sports cars would head up the hill to the reservoir for their fun. I lived off of Santa Teresa & Bernal Rd (by the golf course). I haven't been back down there since probably '89, I wouldn't be surprised if it was all tract homes and office parks now.

Nope, still country as hell back there. I still live in the area. Not much development cause most of the area is private property. Good times back there. |

That's good to hear. I went back to another of my old neighborhoods there (Almaden & Blossom Hill) to buy a car a few years ago and couldn't believe how it had changed.....the dirt lot at the end of the street where we used to ride motorcycles had become a freeway. |

Yeah, I lived in Almaden growing up for a while, still live near Blossom Hill/Snell. Feel free to bring the bug down to BLTN if you're around. Check the link in my sig. |

Just curious? Would you happen to remember his name?
There was a guy named Ashton from Santa Clara that had a red Bug like that.
If it's the same person...I helped him install a clutch in the Bug. |
