| If anyone out there has experience with the supercharger setup from Dick Landy enterprises, I would appreciate info on your experience with it. I have a 62' standard beetle and will be building a 1915cc and am thinking of using the supercharger. My main questions revolve around cost (I'm having trouble getting info out of DLI) what compression I should use, any special things needed when building the engine, how complete the kit is and if there is any custom Fab needed? The car is my only source of transportation so it has to be reliable. Maybe the standard weber 40's are what I should use. I just don't know |

| The DLI charger is nice, I don't think anyone will argue that. But I believe it's in the $2500 range once you include the carberator? at that price you could bolt on AJ Sims turbo kit (just as reliable if not more) to a stock 1600 and get more power and probably better drivability. check the AJ sims turbo kit at www.lowbugget.com or aircooled.net |

| I have talked to people at shows with DLIs and they had good things to say,but one was on a buggy and the other was on a show car. I would like to know how reliable it would be on a driver. |

I've been running my DLI blown motor now for about nine months as a daily driver. I'm not sure how many miles that I have on it because I don't have an odometer on my car but it's probably in the 1500 to 2000 mile range. I have had zero problems with it and it is very drivable. The only problem that I have with it as a daily driver is the fact that it only gives me about 12 M.P.G. but who's counting. Check my page at www.walt.info. or see the link.

| What size motor are you running Volksrod? |

It's a 2017 with 8:1 compression. I'm running an FK8 cam and 42X 37.5 heads. I've geared the blower to produce 6 Pound of boost at 6000 RPM's. I am able to run on 91 octain pump gas. I am also running MSD 6AL ignition and eventually I will be installing the boost retard system so that I can increase the boost a little without the preignition problem.
When I first put the motor in the car I was spinning the blower a lot faster and was pumping out over 20 pounds of boost and I had to run 110 octain gas to keep it from pinging. As a daily driver that wasn't going to cut it. The combination that I'm running now is working out real nice. |

Volksrod-
Was the supercharger a bolt on? Any custom Fab required? |

|
| The only fabrication that is required is to drill and tap 1 hole to a 3/8"-16nc in the alt/gen stand. everything else is a bolt on but be aware you will probably have to run a new Morse throttle cable because the stock cable is too difficult to hook up with bell cranks or cable extensions and the Morse cable only requires drilling a hole in the throttle cable and a hole through the firewall and strapping it to the floorpan. |

| I meant throttle pedal not cable. Another senior moment! |

| i,m building a 2332cc d.l.i. supercharged engine that will be an every day driver i am expecting horsepower and torque in the low to mid 200s to 250 this one will be run with dual 48mm dells, i heard the single holleys run real well to. the problem with VWs is the intake manifolds can only push so much air thru the small pipes. you want to run the biggest cam like fk 89 and heads you can afford you won,t lose bottom end. it would be nice to custom build a fatter manifold, i will be doing this. maybe you can call D.L.I. they seemed to be very helpful when i talked to them about how to build a engine for their blower, thanks TOM (909)595-5663 any questions feel free to call. |
