| I need some help. I have a 2147 stroker motor in my SC. I did not build the motor Tod at Rydell Machine did but anyhow. Lately the motor has been missing really bad. On saterday i fired it up ad let it idle for a few minuts, then turned it off. I felt each header tube coming out of the heads and my #3 cylonder was warm not hot like the other 3. Hum thas weird because #3 should be the hottest I was told. So I put new plugs and wires, check that cap and rotor for cracks all was totally in great shape. Cleaned my carbs. andjusted them and re-checked the timing. Then fired it up again it was still missing really bad. so i let it cool down over ight and the next morning i got up early and ckeck all valve gaps. they were all perfect. i know im getting feul and air i could smell and feel it. im getting spark because i took the plug out and reconected it to the wire then started the car up witch i shouldnt have done.(it shocked the shit out of me)and it was getting really good spark. so i dont know what it could be. help me ! |

Do a compression check and compare the readings in all the cylinders. There are many schools of thought on this issue. I worked with a certified VW of germany master tech, He states that the readings "should" be at least 90 psi +/- 10%. A compression gauge is fairly inexpensive and you should get the kind that screws in to the plug and stay away from the kind that has the rubber snout that you have to hold on the plug hole. good luck!
