Even with a screwdriver jammed into the pulley, the shaft is slipping through the pulley somehow??? Take quite a bit of effort to turn but it is definately slipping. Any ideas?

Sounds like maybe the Woodruff key has sheared off. I'd try spinning the nut off with an air impact. They can get up a lot of inertia/speed/torque that you can't achieve with a hand held socket wrench. If you can get to the big nut on the fan, you might try holding the shaft with that, too.

Didn't have an impact but a blow to the wrench with a hammer did the trick. The key was missing :? Thanks.
