I spotted this bug while snooping around activley looking for beetles in peoples yards.
sounds strange I know.....
Stopped and asked but the owner was not home, returned several times and met the wife, real nice lady.
Finally met the owner one day and we hit it off pretty good, good people.
car was his mothers since new bought in california.(I have the black plate from 63 in beautiful condition)
the car ran great when he parked it 15 years ago.
removed the battery and locked the doors.
Then I show up.
Pans are solid and NO major rust anywhere.some surface rust but no preforations that I can find.( I am a bodyman and know how to find rust)
It also had a roofrack and a nice towbar included.
Got it back to the shop only 1 mile away, cleaned most of the crud off of it.
installed a new battery and took the carb off and cleaned it.
puored some gas in the floatbowl through the fuelline with the pump disconnected.
fired instantly with no complaints or deathnoises or smoke!
idled smoothly then ran out of gas.
Been "fertilizing" this deal for several months with quite a few visits to ck on it.
all paperwork and receipts as well as the owners manual are all there.
there was also a blue and green wolfsburg crest in the glovebox that had never been installed on anything.(Iknow it is supposed to have the black one,but Im going to run this one anyway.)
