I've searched everywhere on the internet for information about this, and found practically zilch, but somone said it was possible, and mentioned a site (now dead) that explains how to do it...
I have a 98 New Beetle, and I never liked the positioning of the door mirrors, They very much block the view of oncoming cars, and in some cases, if the oncoming car is the right distance away, they will completely block it.
I've heard that one can retrofit later style mirrors (maybe from a 2001 model) without the marker lights (or possibly with, since my 98 doesn't have them to begin with) on the earlier cars.. I need to figure out if i have to replace the door hinges too. This site:

If anyone knows a better forum online for New Beetles, let me know, maybe I'm asking this question in the wrong place.

| Never mind.. Found a link to it on the newbeetle.org forums.. still, I'm suprised more people don't have this problem. |
