I need some help. I have an 82 aircooled westy with new plugs, cap, rotor, condenser, and points. I have checked the spark gap, the dwell angle, and the timing. I adjusted the idle as well (after all the above).
I have an idle that sometimes is right at 850-900, and sometimes just above and around 500. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks. |

Could be fuel pressure from one of several causes:
Bad/failing pump, bad filter, bad FPR (fuel pressure regulator). I picked up my 82 Westy a couple of weeks ago after having the seals redone, etc. Died on the way home - FPR croaked.
When they checked the fuel pressure, it was at 20 lbs, should be 36 or so, apparently.
First symptom I saw of the problem was idle dropping below 500.
Best,
