| Surfindo, your Veigel speedo isn't for your own barndoor, it's for very early ones only!! only 1950 had them, can't say the exact month when it changed, but they came on all off these early busses, not for special models as you ask... |

Seen a couple of 50 dated one's and have a 3.51 dated one myself, only seen on early vans, i know of an early 51 from finland had one, and the 51 Maggi bus in the uk has one, few scattered around. Original vw fitment - Generally seem to be scandinavian based but that may be just coincidence.
never seen a 52 dated one. |

this pic from add here on samba date 9-50 and its vdo, 52PANELVAN has veigel date 3-51 that mean vw use 2 diferent type/brand for their early buses or diferent model/country of destination???

There doesn't seem to be any logic as to which buses got the veigel speedo. So yes, vw used 2 different styles |

make sense, maybe in the early days they just use what available. |

| so I guess it was wrong when I said VW only used them in 1950... I used to have a bus from october 1951, that had a VDO, so what Scotty says must be right: it did'nt really matter at VW if they sold their cars with a VDO or Veigel... !!! and it's not only just these speedo's.... electrical part suppliers like Hella, Bosch, SWF... where also 'mixed' during the early years... I guess they just took what they had in stock at the time they needed it :?: |

| How many 1950/1951 buses are out there, and how many of them are missing a speedo? I'm working on a little something. |

I have a viegel speedo stamped 10/52
The position of the odometer dials changed 3 times from 50-54 and the logo on the bottom also changed from being 'on the line' to being 'in between the lines' - or the other way around. |

| Never seen a samba with one either. The march? 51 prototype deluxe didn't have one so I'd be surprised. 51 sambas had the White block like rockstock said but without the deluxe chrome bezel. |

I was just wondering, as I found a clock that matches the Veigel speedo.....not sure what it fits. |

Would have to be from a Pre-A Porsche 356. Like this speedo (no affiliation with seller)

Assuming it's a 100mm diameter Veigel gauge, does it have a chrome full vee bezel like the gauge in the pic, or a stepped bezel like Split Bug/Barndoor gauges?
Either way, it's probably worth a bit of coin. |
