Just posted new pictures of my ´55 Ghia in the gallery.

Interior removed but nothing major rust or damage found. Rustrepairs in both rear fenders not 100% correct, but done 40 years ago and still ok.

tomas

thanks for the pictures, keep them coming
we dont see many pics of the early cars

the front heater sill area must had significant repair
heater outlets should be towards the front - a key feature of the early Ghias
it looks to have a couple of plates let in here & there

Hi

I know, some repairs have been done over time and not correctly.

I did not notice the wrong vents when I got the car.
It has to be changed, when I restore the car this winter.

Thanks for the tip. Keep me posted about wrong details on the car. I am no expert on early Ghias so please help me get this car back to original condition!

I will keep you all informed about the restauration.

Greetings

Tomas

Hi

Just posted new pictures of my car in the gallery. Removing the white paintjob indicates, that the car was L41 Black as the former owners state.
Has not found any major damages yet, besides a bad repair on the right front fender. I´ll keep you all posted.

Some update-picures in the gallery.

The body, lids and doors did need some work to match and fit eachother. Now it looks quite good. The holes in the dash (cigarettelighter and vacuummeter) are now welded. The wrong situated vents in the heaterchannels are closed and relocated in correct position. Still needs to clean old paint around the windows and lids before my two painters can go to work. It still needs a lot of work in the paintshop.

Greetings

Welcome back Tomas...we look forward to more pictures. :)

Thanks John.

It took time to find a painter, that was willing to make that extra effort to make the paint as perfect as possible. It looks good, but the painter is not satisfied with the parts shown above! I expect it to turn out very nice.
I´ll post some more pictures in the next weeks/months.

Best regards

Tomas

That paint is REALLY wavey... Are you sure that guy knows how to paint???

Just kidding. Looks incredible. Can't wait to see the car.

This car is going to come out of it's hibernation in fine fashion!
Lots of fun to follow the progress.

I do too, where did you get them and the wheel trims from?

Looking good Tomas 8) Whens the body being painted :?:

zwitter53 Mon Aug 15, 2011 1:47 am

Hi

A couple of pictures of the wheels (Yes, the rear needs some air, is taken care of):

Trim rings are not originals, repro from the US. 3 of the "spinners" on the hubcaps came with the car and I managed to find 2 ekstra here in Denmark. I have not seen these anywhere else. Peter here in Denmark also have 2 on his red oval.

I hope the car will be prepaired for paint this week. He is working on the doors now.

Best regards

Tomas

Wolfsburg West make a good quality repro of the Lemmertz Beauty Rings: http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=ZVW34WW

Not cheap but nor are a set of originals in good condition.

Slightly cheaper and in Stainless Steel these Ford repros are virtually identical: http://store.bobdrake.com/19forsmootco2.html

I have these Ford repros on my Lowlight although I have 4 original date stamped Lemmertz that need a few dings to be removed. :?
