What is the size star socket needed for the Type 4 flexplate?

My flex plate bolts were gone, so just bought metric hex head or allen head bolts @ my flaps for my t3?

well, I need to remove my bolts.

Oh shit! My flaps is an EMPI dealer and seems to have a lot of VW tools! You gotta use the yellow pages or the internet to find one I guess. I could check my flaps on Thursday? Got any dimensions?

If it were a standard hex head bolt I'd be golden. This is a recessed star type bolt. I believe it was only used on the automatics.

I thought someone would be able to pass along the "size" to me so I can order one off the tool truck.

To help the next guy:

The flexplate bolts on a Type 4 engine are 12 point / 12mm Triple square drive. Seems I received more help from my Cornwell tool guy.

The single tool part number is XZN12M or buy the set as I did which included 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 & 16mm (pn VMXZN100)
