Adventurous outdoor campers: pack that Split Bus with anything and everything you ever wanted to camp with, and load the trailer or truck with your mini-bikes, it's that time of year again!

Lake Pilsburry is 20 Miles north of Clear Lake in the Mendocino National Forest. Try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Pillsbury

The fourth-annual Hull Of A Campout promises to be all the party it's been in the past and more. A camping/social bus event at Lake Pillsburry in the Mendocino National Forest, HOCO combines a deep woods Split-bus camping/mini-bike/fishing event with an off-road challenge: drive up and over Hull Mountain (6800') all the way to -or from- Covelo, Highway 162, to 101 -or 5- and home (all drivable forest service roads). So far, only three buses have actually pulled-off that part of the adventure, so if you're feeling frisky, it's literally part of the Mt. Shasta Snow Trip -impossible in the Winter due to high-altitude snow.

Friday and Saturday are filled with anything and everything you want to do. A designated Off Highway Vehicle area, the Lake Pillsbury basin teams with never-ending 4x4 dirt bike and mountain bike trails, hiking trails, etc. Camped on the side of the lake, fishing is available for tenacious anglers too, with the potential for bass and huge trout.

Fun for all, count on big bon fires, mini-bike racing, animal stories (including Bigfoot who regularly visits in the dark of night), and an overall super-fun adventure. Of course it's a free event, keep that bread for camp food and feeding the bears!

Come on out and camp!

... Only for the hard ...Celebrities on vacation ...How many buses in this image?

hey there kombisutra Aaron and I can't make the dates you chose for this event. I was under the impression there was some talk about doing it a little later in the fall. Don't know if that talk is still under way or not.

Well, post the date you want it to fly on, and we'll do it then. Preferably a week earlier or later. The dates hinge on you. What works Emily? I'm flying to Burning Man in the morning and will be gone for... ever. I'll edit the dates tonight.

... why do all these people have lives??

Thank you Lou, I knew I could count on you. New date for the campout to be Oct. 12th through the 14th.

Negative, Blackcatface, the burning man was set ablaze by thirteen burners having an orgy under it... apparently it was really hot and dirty sex LOL!

Now 3:30am, I'm on the way to the airport to fly there... to investigate of course...

So true. Never should of sold the 67. But the guy who has it is doing a great job finishing the restoration.

I could always put the boot to the Bays windshield. Will that work.

Yes, I'm back alive... and it WAS absofuckinglutely amazing. Words do little to describe visions of such epic proportion, the flames that lit the sky most definatly visible from the moon, a city with no politics, bureaucracy, or normal boundaries of what we shall call "The Default World". Danced so hard to so many international DJs spinning turntables from every imaginable mobile or immobile vehicle, I blew out my right knee! Fire balls shot from cannons over the crowds were so intense, they burned the hair on your arms, and the naked breasts heaved even harder... no discription could come close.

I saw one bus there. Next year, I'll go to Burning Man again. Definately.

So who out there hasn't gone that needs some information? Who needs inspiration? Hey Taylor, to hell for waiting for February, huck your junk in the bus and get down to some real camping! Who's driving out of the south bay so Taylor can caravan with someone?

Blackcatface, what are the odds you can make it?

Who else?

Free advice, we're giving out Free advice here... free beer too! Come on!

Slim to none- that's the same weekend as the Big Sur campout.

Sorry to hear that.

Justin and Lou: There's a very adventurous route we've never taken from the Cracrackramento side that's worth considering if you guys want additional bragging rights. If you check your maps closely on the eastern side of the mountains from Pilsbury, you'll notice a small fishable lake called: "Letts Lake" There are roads that lead up to it from somewhere on your side and more importantly, roads that continue on through a creek or two from there all the way to the main road into Pilsbury. I've never taken it, but have always wanted to. I've talked to multiple rangers who claim it to be rough but passable. You'll note it to be highly circuitous and that would be because it's marginal 4X4. Consider taking it, catching some of the fish in that lake and telling us about it. Anyone else coming from that side might consider it too, but as topo maps will show, there are lots of other adventurous ways to get to Pilsbury.

Well, who's coming that hasn't gone yet? Who's coming over Mendocino Pass this year?

How come it's so quiet in here??
