Hi all, Still no news- Other than that I should be moving house in about a fortnight so we have been busy packing boxes all day long-
I had a very exciting parcel through the post yesterday with a CD full of photo's from Whobba of the Ghia when it was still in CA-
I thought I would share a couple of them with you just for fun-
...heres that dash trim again. I have seen this crop up in a thread recently- I didn't realise I had one til I went back through one of the boxes that came with the car-
Which one would you want?? Silly question!
We just don't get rigs as cool as this over here- I have loved these things since I first saw Smokie & the bandits when I was a kid
Cheers again whobba- Made my weekend!!! 8) :D

Good Memory!! It was on ebay 2 or 3 years ago, I sold it in Cambridge before I went to UNI in '96- the last time I saw it in the flesh it was parked on the side of the road about a hundred yards from Where I lived in Cardiff as a student!!!(A real life Herbie moment if ever there was one)
I did a DVLA check last year and it is currently off the road- I was a bit gutted when I found that out- It still had loads of lovely rare parts on it last time I saw it- What a waste!
Glad you liked the car anyway- Its a real buzz to know people remember it! I hope the Ghia turns out as well! :) |

| very nice, can't wait to see more progress. I am also about to undertake an early ghia project and am running into a few problems. One is the consideration of going to a IRS pan. What all is involved in putting my 58 body onto a later IRS pan? are there any major mods that have to be done or is it a bolt on? thanks |

It won't take me long to get the house livable! Not with this in the garage waiting for some attention! I am hoping to get it out this afternoon if the weather holds out and get a few more pics- Fingers crossed!!! 8) |

Well, the house is at a stage now where I have finally been able to spend a couple of hours on the Ghia-
Now I know this might not be to everyones taste, but, I'm not going to paint the car for a while- I want everything else to be spot on first so in the mean time I have began to rub out the many layers of primer that have been applied over the OG paint-
I have made a start on this painstaking task and thought I would share a picture to help keep me motivated-
What do you guy's think?

Box of goodies arrived this week...................
First off was the correct flat 4 boss for my woodrim wheel! I have been waiting to see this in the car for over a year! just a trial fit for now thou!
Secondly are the nostrils.... they are only repro's but they make a big difference to the face of the ghia! again- they are only a trial fit for now.....
....lastly I had the last missing parts of the indicators delivered.. I've a bit more work to do before they get a trial fit thou!
Have fun 8) 8) |

Hey Brandon,
Thanks for your kind words- It really means a lot to know that you appreciate what I am doing to 'Lil Red'(Sneak preview to some possible stripes)
Just for you I have taken a few more pics- Hope you like them.....
Firstly, Heres one of the seat frames I have had made..... they are modified bug units with bug runners-
The wooden knobs are old genuine EMPI rosewood window winders that i had lying around- I think I might use these in a few places where I have missing ghia only knobs..
Secondly, here are couple more of my polishing efforts..
I'm now pretty happy with the way the front quarter looks- hope you like it!

Spot the difference? I know- not much, but I'm still polishing hard!!
I've done pretty much the whole side of the car now- The roof was alot more sunbleached than the sides but it looks good-
I've got a few bits on order and a few bits on there way, new headlights should be here soon and when I get a rainy night I have to get round to repairing the indicators-
Heres a detail shot of one of the original headlight rims-
I will want to get these rechromed at some point but am nervous that I will lose the text- Has anyone any experience of this?
